Video Composition, November–December 2023

Final class project. Longer electronic composition that incorporates/accompanies visuals. Intent was for video and audio to have an equal role (i.e. music not secondary to the video).

Although this was a final project, I intend to continue to work on it and make some improvements/changes. Therefore, the video composition is not featured here yet.

Distortion in Guitar-Centric Genres

Paper, December 2022

Researched and authored an extensive paper on the historical and musical significance of distortion in guitar-centric genres. Investigated technical aspects, categorizing distortion into harmonic and inharmonic forms, and explored various waveshaping methods. Analyzed the impact of various distortion pedals on music within the context of popular genres. Supported findings with a comprehensive review of literature and citations, highlighting the pivotal role distortion has played in shaping and influencing contemporary music genres. Utilized Max 8 for illustrations.
